The
Taj group of hotels is giving a face lift to its
resort hotel properties in leisure destinations.
The group, over the last few months, has invested Rs
65 crore across its prime resort properties at
Kerala, Chennai, Goa and Rajasthan.
It
will invest Rs 15 crore more in the coming year.
Officials said, the plan is to equip resorts with
services such as spas, varied cuisine and a dining
experience packed with fun-filled activities.
The idea is to command a premium on room rates
instead of opting for a discount pricing.
The
Taj group kicked off its renovations in ’97 across
all its premium properties. It re-furbished public
areas such as the restaurant and the lobby. It
is now renovating resort hotels.
“We
are focusing more on an individual traveller for
our leisure destinations. We want to insulate
ourselves from unforeseen events which affect
tourism. By offering customised service and a
variety of packages, we hope to have better margins
and consistent sales,” said Jamshed Daboo, COO,
leisure division at the Taj group of hotels.
