On a roll
Business India December 9, 2002

Jyoti Narang seems to be on a roll. The marketing vice-president of Taj Hotels, Resorts, and Palaces has been elevated as chief operating officer of the Taj Business Hotels. These international-style hotels are targeted at business travellers. Her promotion comes close on heels of her being named as one of the most powerful women in the travel industry by Travel Agent, the leading US national newsweekly on the travel industry. Narang, who has been selected for her influence and contribution to the travel segment, began her career with the Taj Group in 1982 as sales executive.

In the last 20 years her professional attitude and commitment saw her rapidly become vice-president in 1996. She was instrumental in launching Taj Club floors in the luxury hotels, while revamping the group's loyalty programme. She is also part of the apex council that steers the functional direction of the group and on the committee of senior management group that strategises for the company. Narang, who majored in arts from Lady Shri Ram College, New Delhi, did her MBA (finance) at the Faculty of Management Studies, Delhi.
