Tata Steel Joda East Iron mine bestowed with the Golden Peacock Innovation Management Award 2017

Joda: Joda East Iron Mine (JEIM) of Tata Steel has been conferred with the Golden Peacock Innovation Management Award for the year 2017 for driving innovation in mines. The award was received by Debashis Jena, Chief, Tata Steel, Joda, from Karan Singh Thakral, Ambassador of Singapore to Denmark and Jawed Ashraf, IFS, High Commissioner of India to Singapore at the Institute of Directors India's second global convention held at Singapore on December 14, 2017.

On receiving the award, Pankaj Satija, general manager, ore mines and quarries, Tata Steel, said, “It is a matter of pride and honour to receive the Golden Peacock Innovation Management Award 2017. Tata Steel’s JIEM of is one of the fully mechanised captive iron mines of Tata Steel. It is rated as a five-star category mine by the Government of India for sustainable mining. The mine has developed an integrated Total Quality Management (TQM) framework that provides a structured approach to improvement across the value chain. Some of the innovations implemented in JEIM include digitisation in the excavation of iron ore, use of iron waste for sustainable mining. Spurred by the spirit of innovation, Tata Steel is dedicated to developing new technologies and designing solutions that help transform processes, improve inefficiencies and enhance customer experience.
