Alibaugh, Dherand and Mumbai: Tata Power Community Development Trust (TPCDT) has always worked towards the betterment of the lives of its communities. Upholding this commitment, TPCDT organised an AIDS awareness campaign, on the occasion of International Prevention of HIV-AIDS Day, for the youth of Dherand village. Around 250 students and 15 teachers participated and benefitted from the campaign.

The objective of the campaign was to educate adolescent girls and boys on the perils of the disease, causes, and precautionary methods. HIV-AIDS counsellors from Civil Hospital, Alibag conducted the session, interacted with students, clarified all the doubts and myths about the disease, and sensitised them on the subject through an interactive session.

Speaking about the initiative, Ashok Sethi, executive director and COO, Tata Power, said, “Tata Power has always endeavoured to provide a caring, supportive and healthy environment to its communities. By initiating such health camps, we aim to spread awareness and believe that through awareness about sensitive issues will help and benefit our society as a whole. We are extremely delighted with the response and we will continue to organise such health camps for the welfare and sustainable growth of the community.”

TPCDT also organised awareness rally in the village and distributed pamphlets amongst the villagers. The campaign was successful in reaching out to the youth and spreading basic information about HIV-AIDS.
