Tata Power's Maithon power plant distributes 1,000 saplings as part of Van Srijan tree plantation drive

Maithon and Dhanbad: Maithon Power (MPL), a 74:26 joint venture between Tata Power and Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC), has been relentlessly contributing towards the conservation of environment. In line with its commitment and for sustainable growth and environment protection, MPL celebrated Van Srijan, an initiative supporting the tree plantation drive of the Government of Jharkhand. Over 1,000 fruit and timber saplings were handed over to sitting MLA Arup Chatterjee by MPL management.

The objective of the initiative was to take the step towards creating a green and clean environment in the areas of MPL and Nirsa. The saplings that were distributed as part of the plantation drive included mango, coconut, jamun, jackfruit, guava and sagaun. The saplings will be planted in the whole of Nirsa area and would be taking care of by the villagers for its better growth. The initiative also highlighted the need for each stakeholder to propagate and further the cause of environment conservation and sustainability.

Speaking on the initiative, K Chandrashekhar, CEO and ED, MPL, said, “Maithon Power Limited and Tata Power’s philosophy is built on a strong sustainability agenda. Through this initiative, we intend to encourage tree plantation and preservation of nature to maintain ecological balance by our communities in our areas of operations. Every year, we celebrate Van Srijan on a large scale and this year we are delighted to once again receive a great response. We will continue to undertake such initiatives that will contribute to make our society greener and healthier.”
