New Delhi: In order to recognise the contribution and performances of Indian sports stars on National Sports Day, August 29 2017, the birth anniversary of Major Dhyan Chand, the Hockey Wizard, Tata Power Delhi Distribution (Tata Power-DDL) has launched a social media campaign. The campaign aims to encourage youth of the country to follow a sport they are passionate about and achieve excellence in it, which may help in enhancing India’s performance in Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games as per the expectations of the Prime Minister of India.

For the campaign, Tata Power-DDL has roped in sportsmen like Vinod Kumar, former Olympian and ex-chief coach, Indian Wrestling Team, and Saurabh Sharma, Indian badminton star, currently ranked no. 2 in the Men’s Doubles category and no. 3 in Mixed Doubles, as per Badminton Association of India.

The campaign invites entries from young Turks of the country, asking them which sports can India achieve excellence in and how while giving them a chance to win gift vouchers in return.

Praveer Sinha, CEO and MD, Tata Power-DDL said, “We have come up with this campaign to mark the birth anniversary of Major Dhyan Chand, hockey wizard and to encourage youth to opt for games in order to make India a sporting superpower. If they toil hard in the ground, adopt the right techniques, there is nothing they can’t achieve to make the tricolour fly high at World Championships, Asian Games and Olympics.”
