Jusco employees undertake tree plantation drive

Over 300 saplings were planted during the drive which was organised as part of the environment month celebrations to reduce individual carbon footprint

June month is celebrated as environment month at Jamshedpur Utilities and Services Company (Jusco). As done in the past, this year also Jusco had planned many initiatives to mark the occasion. The objective of this year’s environment month was to implement ideas to reduce individual carbon foot print. Towards this effort the first programme was organised at Garabasa Road, Sakchi, where more than 600 saplings of teak were planted. On the same day tree plantation was organised at Beldih Gram near CH Area and at Golf Course, Golmuri. At the Golf Course venue, officers of Tata Steel corporate services department contributed for the saplings.

In line with the above objective today’s function was organised by employees of water management department at two locations – River Pump House and water treatment plant. Ashish Mathur, MD, Jusco, and Raghunath Pandey, president, Jusco Shramik Union, planted saplings at both the locations. Also, present were Capt Dhanajay Mishra, senior GM (JTO), RK Singh, DGM, water management, and other employees from the water management department. More than 300 saplings of different variety like ashoka, teak, mango, litchi, papaya, etc. were planted during the drive. Each and every employee of water management department contributed Rs50 towards the cost of the sapling to express their individual commitment to reduce carbon footprint. Similar drive will be organised by all departments of Jusco to contribute towards reducing individual carbon footprint and improve green cover at Jamshedpur.
