Tata Chemicals (TCL) won the award under the category sustainable environmental initiatives for their entry ‘Water management in a drought prone area’ at the recently announced Bombay Chamber Civic Awards 2008-09. The awards were distributed at a glittering function held at The Taj Lands End, Mumbai, on June 25, 2009.
The award was handed over by Adi Godrej, chairman, Godrej Group. TCL’s initiative was adjudged winner among all the entries for its consistent, substantial and impactful efforts in the area of water management.
Speaking on the achievement, B Sudhakar, chief human resources officer, Tata Chemicals, said, “The roots of being sustainable and contributing to social needs is embedded in our value systems which is also validated by our credo 'The Human Touch of Chemistry'. Each one at TCL consistently works towards creating value for the organisation, the community around and society in general. Receiving such accolades is a booster for our continuous journey of sustainable development.”
The Bombay Chamber Civic Awards is an annual event initiated by The Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The prime objectives are to promote an active social, environmental and civic conscience among member organisations and to recognise and reward best practices in environment.
