Arup Kumar Chattopadhyay, managing director, Tata Refractories, was the chief guest and inaugurated the campaign by planting a pomegranate sapling. Tata Refractories started its plantation programme in the early nineties. The company has planted 3.52 lakh plants in and around its campus and in the community. The horticulture department of the company takes care of the township and inside factory plantation and the community development and social welfare department takes care of community plantation. This year, the company has planned to plant 5,000 saplings in the township area, inside the factory and in the community area. Last year, the company had planted 7,000 teak saplings in Banjari village near the ashram school as a part of the eco-restoration programme. |
