TCS Global Engineering Development Centre (GEDC) became the tenth TCS centre to attain the prestigious Level 5 of the Software Engineering Institute's Capability Maturity Model.

TCS GEDC is the first engineering centre in the world to have attained this level. Commenting on the achievement, Jack Harding of SEI and the lead assessor quoted the article in IEEE May/June 2000 on "Sorting out CMM and Six Sigma" by David N Card, and said that in GEDC he has seen a centre, which has successfully adopted both CMM and Six Sigma for process improvements. He commented that this is a strength not many centres have. He appreciated the strong customer focus of the centre in representing GE-to-GE customers and vendors.
