The Tata Relief Committee, under the stewardship of Mr. P R Menon and Mr. J Kanga have set up a co-ordination group to oversee the relief efforts. Four sub-committees have been set up for purchase, communication, transport & finance. These committees are in liaison with an NO in Bhuj The Kutchh Navnirman Abhiyan to reach relief material like medicines, groceries, tarpaulin sheets for tents, candles, etc. to the affected people in the villages surrounding Bhuj. The relief committee is also undertaking a survey of affected areas in Gujarat to identify which other areas need immediate relief. A plan for long term relief is also being drawn up and should be finalised shortly.

The Indian Hotels have geared up to provide relief on a large-scale to the affected areas in Gujarat. Food packets, medical supplies and equipment have been sent to provide relief to the earthquake victims in Bhuj. Medical supplies include medicines, IV fluids, antibiotics, injections, bandages, gloves, syringes, medical instruments, and OT equipments (trolleys, anesthesia sets, tables, lights, Boyle machines, cardiac defibrillator, trays). General supplies such as generator sets, mattresses and blankets, torches, stretchers, insect repellants, refrigerators, water tanks, gas stoves, mobile toilets, jerry cans and halogen lamps have also been sent to Bhuj.
Taj Air have conducted five shuttle trips in its HS 125 aircraft from Mumbai to Bhuj in a span of three days transporting doctors, nursing staff, medicines and other relief supplies to the quake hit areas. Some senior managers of the Tata group were present there to supervise distribution of the relief supplies. The Taj Air has also chartered, other aircrafts to transport supplies such as blankets, tents & substantial amounts of food packets which were specially prepared by Taj Air caterers for the quake hit areas. Recounting an aerial sight from the HS 125, senior pilots with Taj Air, Captain Fernandes and Captain Verma, said that the entire Bhuj area had been devastated beyond imagination and perhaps these humanitarian gestures as the above could bring immediate succor, if not happiness, to the unfortunate beings caught in the "unearthly quake".
