The Government of India has accepted the recommendation of the panel of judges that the prime minister's trophy for the Best Performing Steel Plant for the year 1999-2000 be awarded to Tata Steel, Jamshedpur.

Tata Steel has been conferred this award for the third time since its institution. The trophy comes with a cash award of Rs1 crore.
