Tata Steel wins EEPC award

 

Tata Steel has been bestowed the 'Engineering Export Promotion Council National Award' for outstanding export performance in 2000-01. The award is sponsored by the ministry of commerce, government of India.

Arun Jaitley, union minister of commerce and industry, presented the award to T Mukheerjee, deputy managing director (steel), Tata Steel, at a function held on September 26, 2003, in New Delhi.

Tata Steel has successfully reached several quality standards to meet international requirements. These include the Euronorm standard for HR coils, CR coils and galvanised coils (for the European market), the ASTM (American Society of Testing Material) standard for the US market, the API (American Petroleum Institute) standard for line pipes (for expanding its presence in the Middle East and Korea), and the JIS (Japanese Industrial Spec) standard for HR, CR and GI coils for serving the Southeast Asian market.

During the period Tata Steel has exported products like HR and CR coils, wire rods, billets, ETP, ferro alloys and tubes all over the world, while focusing on creating high-end, value-added niches for its steel exports. The company has exported products like HR, CR and galvanised steel to new markets in Europe and China, and has also developed the Kenyan market for CR steel.

Tata Steel has won several national and regional awards for export promotion in the recent past.
