Tata Chemicals has entered into definitive agreement to acquire General Chemical Industrial Products, a US-based chemical company, for $1,005 million.

Harbinger Capital Partners is the majority owner of General Chemical.

General Chemical is a significant soda ash producer in US with capacity of 2.5 million tonne per annum. Its manufacturing facilities are located at Green River Basin in Wyoming.

At 11:10 am, Tata Chemicals shares were up 0.94 per cent at Rs 332 on BSE.
