Tatanet in MoU with ViaSat Inc
New Delhi: Norcross, GA Tatanet India, a division of Nelco Ltd, has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with ViaSat Inc. ViaSat, a provider of VSAT systems and equipment, has embarked on a concerted broadband programme using the LinkStar system.
The MoU was signed by Nelco Ltd chairman MN Bhagwat and ViaSat Inc chairman and CEO Mark Dankberg on June 17, 2002 at the CommunicAsia 2002.
Under the MoU, Tatanet has awarded a contract to ViaSat Inc for LinkStar and Skylinx communication networks from the Comsat Laboratories division of ViaSat.
This network will provide secure data communications for corporate customers in a hub-and-spoke (star) configuration and also make direct connections between remote customers for full mesh voice, fax and data applications.
"This will enable Tatanet to have access to ViaSats latest technologies. Tatanet will be able to deploy them on an exclusive basis within a time window for the Indian market. In addition to this, Tatanet has the opportunity to provide engineering services both within the country and in the region," said Mr Zal Engineer, executive director, Tatanet Division.
Tatanet will launch their Ku-band broadband services in India shortly incorporating the ViaSat LinkStar system.
"We are sure that ViaSat will achieve new heights in terms of marketshare and deployment of innovative networking technology in India under the trusted brand name of Tatanet," ViaSat country manager (India and SE Asia) Feroz Khan said.
