'Tata group has been a model of pioneering for over 150 years'
Pioneering is how the Tata group defines innovation in enterprise, says Dr Gopichand Katragadda, group chief technology officer, Tata Sons
Hong Kong recently hosted the 2017 edition of the technology summit RISE. RISE is produced by the team behind Web Summit, which in a short span of six years has become Europe's largest tech conference. It attracted 53,000 attendees from 136 countries around the world last year. RISE is home to independent conferences, each with its own stage, schedule, exhibition area, workshops, networking events and more.

Dr Gopichand Katragadda, group chief technology officer, Tata Sons, was one of the distinguished speakers at RISE 2017, which brought together speakers from the world's biggest companies.
Dr Katragadda’s spoke about ‘How do you define innovation in enterprise: A CTO perspective’. During the course of the talk, he said that, "The Tata group has been a model of pioneering for over 150 years. About 66 percent of the group's revenue is given back to the society. The Tata group has been a pioneer as a trader, manufacturer, in IT services, and now it endeavours to be a pioneer innovator."
Dr Katragadda further explained that the group has had to 're-imagine and reinvent' as its activities — in the digital, automobile, consumer products, manufacturing, technology, defence, power infrastructure, communications and other spheres — have transformed in keeping with the changing times.
Dr Katragadda took the opportunity to highlight the fact that the group was conducting pioneering work in ensuring the safety of its employees, feeding the increasing population, maintaining the health of the planet and discovering the material of the future.
