Tata Consultancy Services unveils China initiative development centre at Hangzhou, marketing office in Beijing, headquarters in ShanghaiTata Consultancy Services (TCS), Asia’s largest global software solutions and consulting services company, has unveiled its initiatives in China with the announcement of the launch of Tata Information Technology (Shanghai) Co Ltd, a subsidiary of Tata Sons Ltd, in Shanghai. The mayor of Shanghai presented the license to do business to TCS chief executive officer, S Ramadorai, at a function held on Tuesday in Shanghai.
Commenting on TCS' initiative in China, Phiroz A Vandrevala, executive vice president, TCS, said, "TCS is extremely excited to find itself making inroads into China. TCS' vision is to leverage China for both, domestic growth opportunities and globally growing IT needs."
The China initiative
TCS' China framework will consist of three parts - Tata Information Technology (Shanghai) Co Ltd, will be headquartered in Shanghai. The TCS office in Beijing will undertake marketing activities for the company’s China operations and will cover areas in client relationship management, public relations and legal areas, in addition to providing support to the northeast and northwest regions. In Hangzhou, TCS will set up a development centre that will provide end-to-end services for clients over the Asia Pacific region, in coordination with TCS delivery centres in India.
The Hangzhou development centre will add to TCS' network of global development centres located around the world including the US / Australia / Hungary / Uruguay / UK, and add greater value to the services it provides to its global clients.
Tata Consultancy Services has been focused at developing its presence in the Asia Pacific market, which contributes over 5 per cent of its overall revenues. The initiative in China is in line with its focus in the region. TCS already has sales offices in Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore. Its Asia Pacific headquarters are in Singapore.
