Mundra: Tata Power, one of India's largest integrated power companies, is committed to improving the quality of lives of the people living in and around its project areas. In line with this commitment, Tata Power through its 100 percent subsidiary, Coastal Gujarat Power (CGPL), recently organised a clean my city drive with the active support and participation of the gram panchayat of Tunda village, Mundra, Gujarat. The sarpanch of the Tunda gram panchayat, Digvijay Singh Zala, was present at the drive and ensured the participation of community members.

The objective of the initiative was to make people aware of the importance of cleanliness as well as inculcate a sense of consciousness amongst local residents to practice healthy sanitation etiquette. The cleanliness drive was organised for a day with the energetic participation of primary school children from Tunda village.

Mahatma Gandhi’s motto, cleanliness is next to godliness, was propagated by employee volunteers and rural youth who sensitised the community and created awareness by distributing masks and gloves during the drive. CGPL also created awareness about the harmful use of plastics and distributed posters and scrolls on not using plastic. Corporate responsibility and environment departments provided the community members with dustbins and handcart trolleys to ensure cleanliness in the village even in the future.

Speaking on this initiative, KK Sharma, ED and CEO, CGPL, stated, “CGPL is extremely committed to the use and conservation of the environment. It is imperative for us to keep our surroundings clean and green. CGPL aims to spread the message of curbing contamination and being green, as cleanliness is the cornerstone of discipline and a trademark of success. We thank the sarpanch, gram panchayat and all volunteers who have supported us in making this initiative a great success.”
