TCS's F.C. Kohli gets honoured
Mr.F. C. Kohli of the Tata Consultancy Services, who is known as the "Father of Indian Software Industry", has been named the recipient of the Dadabhai Naoroji Memorial Award for the year 2000.
Announcing the award in a press statement, Mr. A. B. Godrej, chairman of the Dadabhai Naoroji Memorial Prize Fund, said the award, comprsing Rs. 1 lakh cash and a silver plaque, was being conferred upon Mr. Kohli for advancing the interests of the country in the field of information technology.
Mr. Kohli’s contributions in the field of information technology has been widely recognised. In 1969, he took charge of the Tata Consultancy Services which has grown today into one of the largest information technology firms in India. He also associated with many professional bodies including Nasscom, Computer Society of India and Management Consultants Association of India, the statement said.
The earlier recipients of the award include Dr. C.D. Deshmukh, Dr. Verier Elvin, Dr. Salim Ali, Mr. Vijay Merchant, Mr. J R D Tata, Mr. Satyajit Ray, Ms M.S. Subbulakshmi and Mr. Nani Palkhiwala.
