Tata Indica rally

After vintage rallies and speed drag racing, the Tata Indica More Miles Rally on January 26 will become the latest motorsport event on the city’s growing motor sporting itinerary.

Organised by the Tata Engineering Authorised Service Centres of Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai, along with Autocar India, in association with The Orchid, this is a one of its kind fuel efficiency rally, which is open to all Tata Indica diesel cars.

The rally, to be flagged off from The Orchid, aims at testing the driving skills of the participants, not necessarily for how quickly they get from point A to B, but for their fuel efficiency en route.

The rally will be run over a pre-determined route covering approximately 100 km between Mumbai and Manor and rally marshals will be observing from undisclosed locations to ensure that no vehicles attempts to take a short cut to the destination.

The rally pass through some of the major areas of Mumbai and Thane, like Bandra, Andheri, Goregaon, Bhayander, Vasai and Virar. Fuel tanks of the participating cars will be filled and sealed by the organisers before the start and the process repeated at Manor. Drivers of the cars that consume the least amount of fuel will be declared winners.

The event will be restricted to the first 50 entries and besides the winners’ prize money and trophies there will also be special gift hampers from McDowells and Veedol. Entries for the event close on Friday, January 24.
