The
Tinplate Company of India (TCIL), an associate enterprise
of Tata Steel, pioneered the manufacture of tinplate
in India. Today, with a market share of over 35 per
cent, it is the country's leader in this industry segment.
TCIL's basic products are electrolytic
tinplate / tin-free steel in sheet form and cold-rolled
products in coil form. Its four types of tinplate products
are oilcans, general line (NOC), open-top sanitary cans
and tin-free steel in either single- or double-reduced
form.
The company's products
are manufactured from hot-rolled coils supplied by Tata
Steel, and used in can fabrication to pack edible oils,
processed foods, dairy products, beverages, pesticides,
paints, and for manufacturing battery components.
