A subsidiary of Tata Steel, Tata Sponge Iron (TSIL) manufactures sponge iron using the 'Tisco Direct Reduction' process developed by its parent company. With an installed capacity of 240,000 metric tonnes, its major product lines are sponge iron lump (+3mm) and sponge iron fine (0-3mm).

TSIL's sponge iron is recognised for its high iron content, high degree of 'metallisation', uniform and consistent quality, low sulphur and phosphorus content, and minimum dust generation during material handling.
