Tata
Metaliks, a subsidiary of Tata Steel, manufactures pig
iron at its plant in Kharagpur, West Bengal. Low-sulphur
and low-phosphorus grades are the company's standard
product offerings, and are suitable for the manufacture
of ductile grades of castings. It is the only supplier
of such grades in eastern India.
Tata Metaliks' pig iron
is ideally suited for specialised applications such
as pressure-tight precision castings, automobile engine
blocks, crankshafts, gears, rolling mill rolls, motor
and generator housings, and railway and machine tools.
In addition to its principal markets in the eastern
and northern foundry belts of India, Tata Metaliks also
supplies pig iron to companies in Egypt, the UAE, Thailand,
Taiwan, Malaysia and Bangladesh.
