Tata
Chemicals has, under its food additives business unit,
two products that are pioneers in their respective segments:
salt and sodium bicarbonate.
Salt
Tata Salt is the market leader in the branded salt segment
with over 41 per cent. Iodised and vacuum-evaporated,
it has gone from strength to strength to become the preferred
brand for packaged food manufacturers, the hospitality
industry and even the Indian government. Apart from Tata
Salt, Tata Chemicals produces crystalline salt marketed
under the brand name Samunder Crystal Salt, and Topp Salt
that was recently launched in the Middle East. Vacuum
evaporated, super refined and iodine-enriched, Topp Salt
has been introduced in Dubai, with plans to cover the
entire United Arab Emirates. The company also plans a
rollout in Oman, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia.
Sodium
bicarbonate
Tata Chemicals manufactures three varieties of sodium
bicarbonate: technical, refined and granular. The company
also makes and markets India's first branded cooking
soda (sodium bicarbonate refined) under the Tata Samunder
brand name.
