Tata
Power
A pioneer in the Indian power sector, Tata Power is
one of India's largest energy utilities. Originally
established to supply power to Mumbai, it now has a
presence in generation, transmission and distribution.
Tata Power has an installed power
generation capacity of 2,278 mw from its thermal and
hydroelectric plants. It has branched into operating
captive power plants (CPPs) and independent power plants
(IPPs), and also holds managing control in the distribution
company, North Delhi Power, which distributes and supplies
power to the north and northwest areas of Delhi.
Tata Power Trading Company, a
wholly owned subsidiary of the Tata Power, is the first
company to have been awarded a power trading licence
by India's Central Electricity Regulatory Commission,
enabling it to carry out transactions all over the country.
Tata Power has been involved in the construction of
several power projects in a number of countries, including
the UAE, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Algeria.
It has also undertaken projects in power plant / utility
operations and management in Saudi Arabia, Liberia,
Iran, Sierra Leone and Algeria.
