Tatas invite school children to play with tennis 'legends'
April 23, 2001

Eight tennis 'legends’, including Bjorn Borg, Vijay Amritraj, Guillermo Vilas, Henri Leconte, John Lloyd, Mansour Bahrami, Anand Amritraj and Ross Case, will soon be in the city to play the Tata Tennis Legends Tournament. And four lucky youngsters will have an opportunity to take centre court against them at the CCI on May 3, 2001. The participants will be young winners from the slogan contest launched by the Tatas.

The contest, being held for school children in Mumbai, requires youngsters below the age of 15 years to complete the slogan, "I dream of playing Bjorn Borg because…" and mail it to the company with the relevant details before April 28, 2001. The four best slogan writers will get a chance to play with the 'legends'.

Anticipating a good response to the contest,  Romit Chaterji, vice-president, corporate affairs, Tata Group, said, "The Tata Group has a longstanding commitment to the furtherance of sport in the country. This is a wonderful opportunity for young tennis fans to realise their dream of playing with some of the international greats of tennis. Showcasing superior talent in this manner is a sincere  attempt to encourage gifted youngsters to take the sport more seriously."
