India's
ace racing driver Narain Karthikeyan of TATA RC Motorsport
team, kept up the momentum in his World Series by Nissan
championship campaign by taking a double points score
in the latest race held in Lausitzring in Germany. According
to a press release, Karthikeyan is still sixth in the
overall points table, in amongst some of the many stellar
names in the series. With eight more races to go in
the championship, Narain is confident of a worthy performance.
It was a day for the fastest Indian in the world to
show a lot of grit and determination due to some unfortunate
incidents in both races, which meant that he had to
fight his way through the field to get the best result
possible at the ultramodern Lausitzring track. In the
morning race, Narain had a problem at the start and
lost ground to a few drivers. However, it didn't take
long before Karthikeyan had skillfully worked his way
back into the points.
But then came a misunderstanding with French driver
Olivier Pla: "He backed off and so I also backed off,"
said Narain. "It put me off line and I couldn't see
the road. I dropped a wheel on the grass and that led
me to spin. It was nobody's fault, but it ruined my
race really." Pla was involved in the TATA RC Motorsport
Driver's second race story as well. The pair touched
going into the fearsome first corner on the opening
lap.
Both cars took a bit of a hit and Narain's steering
was damaged from then on. "I had a lot of understeer
turning right," said Narain. That is actually a big
problem and I had to just try and finish the race."
Considering the broken car, the second race was an awesome
performance. Narain left no stone unturned as he pursued
places and points a well deserved sixth place and some
championship valuable points.
