Amritraj pair in Tata Open

Kolkata: The Amritraj pair will once again be in action in India. Only this time, it will be their sons, and not the legendary pair of Vijay and Anand Amritraj, who will seen in action. Prakash Amritraj and Stephen Amritraj, sons of Vijay and Anand respectively, will take part in the doubles event at the Tata Open 2003 Tennis Championships, to be played at Nugambakkam tennis Stadium in Chennai from 30 December to 5 January. According to information received here, this will mark the first time that the duo will be playing doubles in an ATP tournament in India.

Anand Amritraj, who is currently in Chennai said “Vijay and I are thoroughly excited at the prospect of Prakash and Stephen making their doubles debut, especially in our home town.”

The duo, coached by their respective fathers, had the highlight of their careers this year when they reached the doubles semi-finals in a ATP tournament in Los Angeles, USA. They had qualified for the US Open doubles draw too.
