Canas confirms participation

Defending champion Guillermo Canas of Argentina has confirmed his return to the Tata Open Chennai ATP meet next year.

“I had a fantastic time in Chennai in January, and winning there in front of the enthusiastic crowd was special,” said Canas, who is ranked 15 currently in the ATP Champions Race.

Other star players who have confirmed their participation for the $400,000 event are Paradorn Srichaphan, the runner-up this year, and Australia’s Mark Philippoussis.

The Tata Open, one of the three tournaments in the first week of the ATP calendar for 2003, runs from 30 December to 5 January.
