Chairman Ratan Tata was nominated for the Maharashtra Bhushan for 2005-06 by the state government. The award carries a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh, a citation and a memento.

Tata Chemicals' Babrala plant won the Indian Chemical Manufacturers Association's award for excellence in Management of Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) for the year 2004-05. Homi Khusrokhan, executive director, Tata Chemicals, accepted the award saying, "This is indeed a proud moment for all of us at the company. Our organisation has always demonstrated its commitment to the welfare of the employees, stakeholders and the environment. The Babrala plant is an example of a truly world-class plant."

Indian Hotels signed a management contract for the Hotel Holiday Inn in Surat, Gujarat. Renamed the Gateway Hotel, it is the only five-star hotel in South Gujarat and will be operated under the Taj Business Hotels brand. The hotel has on offer 132 guestrooms including four deluxe suites and one presidential suite. The hotel also offers six spacious banquet halls, a business centre, 10,000 sq ft of lawns for outdoor events. The hotels is owned by Gujarat JHM Hotels.
