B Muthuraman is the managing director of Tata Steel. Beginning his career in the Group as a graduate trainee with Tata Steel, he worked in various areas of iron making and engineering before moving to the sales and marketing division, after which he took charge as vice president. He spearheaded the prestigious cold rolling mill project which was completed in record time in 1995. As executive director (special projects) he was the main change agent for major diversification projects of Tata Steel.

He is an avid reader, has travelled widely all over the world, and is a keen golfer and cricket enthusiast.
