Homi
Khusrokhan is the managing director of Tata Chemicals.
Joining the Group as managing director of Tata Tea for
three years until 2004, he moved to the board of Tata
Chemicals as an executive director.
Before joining the Group, Khusrokhan
worked with Ford Motor (UK) for three years, and later
returned to India to join Glaxo Laboratories, working
there for the next 29 years in several functional areas
including finance, marketing and general management.
He was the managing director of Burroughs Wellcome in
1995 and managing director of both Glaxo and Wellcome
in India in 1996, a position he held till 2000. Under
his stewardship, the two companies saw considerable
growth and received acclaim through various awards.
He has been active in industry
affairs both within the pharmaceutical industry and
in general. He was president of the Organisation of
Pharmaceutical Producers of India and vice president
of the Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Khusrokhan studied at the
Sydenham College of Commerce and Economics and obtained
a B Com (honours) from the University of Mumbai. He
then qualified as a chartered accountant, and also completed
M Sc (Econ) in accounting and finance from the London
School of Economics and Political Science.
