DS Gupta is the managing director of Tata AutoComp Systems (TACO). He has been with the Tata Group since January 1993. Mr Gupta started the TACO project in 1994 when the Tata Group decided to enter the auto component industry.

TACO is India's leading supplier of products and services in the auto component industry. It has set up joint ventures with global companies and has 30 manufacturing facilities and six engineering centres.

Prior to TACO, Mr Gupta was a part of the startup team at Maruti Suzuki. He was with the company from 1981 to 1992. Before that, he worked with Bharat Heavy Electricals from 1974 to 1981.

Mr Gupta has a Bachelor's degree in technology from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur and a Master's degree in business administration from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.
