Mumbaikars
for the first time will be able to enjoy India's ace
Formula One driver Narain Karthikeyan driving his Jordan
at 300 kmph+ speed at Marine Drive on October 30. In
a meeting with chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, Western
India Automobile Association (WIAA) office bearers reviewed
the preparations for the demo run of the F1 car at Marine
Drive. The stretch of two km between National Centre
for Performing Arts (NCPA) and the Intercontinental
Hotel has been identified for the demo run.
Karthikeyan will perform, 'Doughnuts', which in racing
terminology means a car being spun around its central
axis during the demo run. Apart from the Jordan F1 car,
some sports cars and racing cars from private collection
will also participate in the event. The event will also
showcase the evolution of car racing. The whole spectacle
will last for around an hour, informed Nitin Dosa, executive
chairman of WIAA. Further, he added that the demonstration
run will take into account inconvenience to the people
from the surrounding area.
